Car Lifts for Sale in Texas
By Josiah Ragsdale, Automotive Lift Services
Texas is the biggest single market we ship into, and it isn’t close. There are more registered vehicles here than in most countries, more independent repair shops than we can count, and a home-garage culture that runs from lifted diesels in East Texas to autocross Miatas in the Hill Country. That mix is why we stock and sell what we do. When folks search for car lifts for sale in Texas, they usually aren’t looking for a catalog — they’re looking for someone who knows what a slab poured in Katy gumbo clay will hold, whether their 10-foot garage ceiling in a Frisco tract home can take a four-post, and how fast a lift can be on their floor. We’re an Iowa-based company with a nationwide install network, and Texas keeps our crews busy year-round.
Two-Post Lifts: The Shop Standard
If you fix cars for a living, a two-post is almost always the right first lift. Full undercarriage access, small floor footprint, and the fastest wheels-free service in the business. In Texas we sell both configurations heavily:
- Asymmetric two-post — columns rotated so the doors clear the posts. Ideal for shops working a lot of sedans, crossovers and daily drivers around Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.
- Symmetric two-post — arms even front and rear, better balance for long-wheelbase trucks. In Texas this matters. F-250s, 2500 Rams, dually flatbeds and lifted Tundras are the bread and butter in Amarillo, Conroe, Baytown and Bryan, and a symmetric lift with tall adapters handles them without drama.
- Clearfloor vs. floorplate — clearfloor puts the overhead beam up top and leaves the floor open for transmission jacks and rolling toolboxes. Floorplate models run the equalizer cable in a shallow ramp at the floor and are the answer when ceiling height is tight, which is common in older brick garages near downtown El Paso or in converted commercial bays in Beaumont.
Capacities we move most in Texas: 10,000 lb for general repair, 12,000–15,000 lb for truck-heavy shops and fleet work, and 18,000 lb and up for shops touching box trucks, ambulances and municipal vehicles.
Four-Post Lifts: Storage, Detailing and Home Garages
Four-post lifts are the go-to for home users and collectors, and Texas has a lot of both. Drive on, drive off, no lifting points to hunt for, and with a set of caster kits you can roll the whole lift to the side of the garage. Suburban builds in Cedar Park, Allentown, Carrollton, Denton and Atlascocita often have 11- to 13-foot garage ceilings, which is enough to park one car over another. Add drip trays and a rolling jack bridge and you have a lift that stores a car and still services one.
Four-posts are also the honest choice for anyone who mostly does fluid changes, exhaust work, detailing and light suspension jobs and doesn’t want to think about lift points. Cars stay on their tires, which makes them the safer long-term storage option for a classic that sits.
Scissor, Mid-Rise and Low-Rise Lifts
Ceiling height is the number one thing that kills a lift purchase in Texas, especially in tract-home garages built after 2005 with 9-foot plates and a garage door opener hanging dead center. Mid-rise scissor lifts solve that. You get 40 to 50 inches of lift — enough to sit on a stool and do brakes, tires, rockers, exhaust and body work — and many are portable or surface-mounted with minimal anchoring.
Low-rise scissor lifts are the tire-and-wheel and detail-shop answer. We sell a lot of them to mobile tire operations and PPF/ceramic coating shops in Austin and Arlington where the work happens at knee height and floor space is expensive. Full-rise scissor lifts, with a flush-mount option, give you an almost invisible lift when the bay doubles as showroom space.
Mobile Column and Alignment Lifts
Mobile column lifts are the heavy end of what we sell in Texas — sets of four or six wireless columns for buses, RVs, fire apparatus, oilfield service trucks and agricultural equipment. West Texas and the Permian region run hard on heavy fleet iron, and mobile columns let a shop lift a 60,000-lb vehicle today and use the same floor for something else tomorrow. School districts, municipalities and transit yards buy these constantly.
Alignment lifts — four-post with front slip plates and rear rolling jacks, or scissor alignment platforms — are a different conversation. Texas roads chew up suspension components. Between caliche county roads, ranch driveways, and freeway expansion joints on I-35 and I-45, alignment work is steady revenue. If you’re adding an alignment bay, get us on the phone early so the lift, the machine and the bay length get planned together instead of fought over later.
Choosing the Right Lift
We ask the same handful of questions on every call about car lifts for sale in Texas:
- What’s the heaviest vehicle you’ll actually lift — and be honest about the diesel dually.
- Ceiling height at the lowest obstruction, not the peak.
- Slab thickness, age, and whether it’s post-tension. This matters enormously in newer Texas construction.
- Single-phase or three-phase power, and what voltage is at the panel.
- Bay width, door swing, and where the overhead door track and springs live.
- Do you need wheels-free service, or is drive-on fine?
Answer those six and we can usually narrow it to two models in one phone call.
Texas Install Realities: Concrete, Ceilings, Power and Heat
Concrete first. Most two-post lifts want 4 to 6 inches of 3,000+ PSI concrete, cured, with adequate distance from expansion joints and slab edges. A lot of Texas is expansive clay — Blackland Prairie soils through Dallas, Denton, Waco and Bryan–College Station move seasonally, and slabs crack and heave. Coastal builds around Baytown, Beaumont and Brownsville deal with high water tables and thinner pours. And an enormous number of newer homes in DFW and Houston suburbs sit on post-tension slabs, where you absolutely cannot drill blind. We handle that with scanning, engineered footing pads, or by steering you to a surface-mount or mobile-column solution that doesn’t require anchoring into cable.
Ceilings second. Tell us the real number. We’d rather sell you a mid-rise that works than a two-post that stops eight inches short.
Power third. Commercial bays in Texas often have three-phase at 208/230V, while home garages are single-phase 220V and sometimes only have a 110V circuit run. We spec the power unit accordingly and tell you what your electrician needs to do before we roll up.
Climate last, but it matters. Texas heat is brutal on hydraulic fluid and seals. An uninsulated metal shop in Abilene or Amarillo can hit 120°F in August. We recommend the right fluid, shaded or ventilated power-unit placement, and a real service interval. Gulf Coast humidity and coastal salt air near Brownsville and Baytown accelerate corrosion on cables, sheaves and anchor bolts — galvanized hardware and regular inspection are cheap insurance. West Texas dust gets into everything, and Panhandle winters do drop below freezing, so cold-weather fluid isn’t a bad idea in Amarillo.
Delivery, Professional Installation and Inspection
We deliver anywhere in Texas. Freight runs into Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso and the Valley constantly, and we coordinate liftgate or forklift unloading so a pallet of steel doesn’t end up sitting in your driveway. Installation is done by trained, vetted local crews or our flying techs — not a random handyman. That means anchor torque to spec, plumb columns, cable tension set correctly, hydraulic bleed, safety-lock function testing, and a walkthrough so you know how to operate and inspect your own equipment.
We also handle annual ALI-style inspections, cable and sheave replacement, seal kits, power-unit swaps, relocations, and buy-out inspections when you’re taking over a shop with existing lifts of unknown history. If you found car lifts for sale in Texas somewhere else and just need a qualified installer, we do that too.
Financing and In-Stock Availability
Most of what we sell is in stock and ready to ship, which is the whole point — a lift on backorder makes you no money. We offer equipment financing and lease-to-own options for shops that would rather keep working capital free, and we can quote install as part of the package so there are no surprise line items. Fleet, municipal and multi-bay buildouts get volume pricing and a phased install schedule so you never shut the whole shop down at once.
Cities and Regions We Serve
We install and service across the state, including Abilene, Allentown, Amarillo, Arlington, Atlascocita, Austin, Baytown, Beaumont, Brownsville, Bryan, Burleson, Carrollton, Cedar Park, College Station, Conroe, Dallas, Denton, Desoto, Edinburg and El Paso — plus every small town and county road in between. Rural Texas is not a problem for us; we route crews out of the major metros and get to the Panhandle, the Permian, Deep East Texas and the Rio Grande Valley regularly.
