Paid Training Jobs — A Debt-Free Path to a Real Trade
We hire character, not credentials. If you’re mechanically curious, willing to put in real work, and tired of being told you need a four-year degree to earn a real paycheck, you’re the person we want. We pay you from your first day of training. There’s no application fee, no tuition, and no debt on the other side of it — just paid work while you learn a trade that will feed you for the next forty years.
Email your resume to info@autoliftserv.com or call 800-674-9302 — we’ll set up a real conversation with a real person, usually within a day or two.
The Deal, Straight
Most companies that promise “paid training jobs” mean you spend three weeks watching safety videos in a break room for minimum wage, then get thrown at the customer to sink or swim. That’s not this. Here’s how it actually works:
- You get paid from day one. Not a stipend. Not a “training rate.” Real hourly pay while you learn.
- You learn from working techs, in the field. The first weeks are riding along with an experienced installer or service tech on real jobs. You watch, you help, you ask questions, and by the time you’re doing it yourself you’ve seen every problem the trade throws at you.
- Pay bumps as you certify. ALI (Automotive Lift Institute) certification, forklift, aerial lift, electrical — every credential you earn while working for us bumps your pay. We pay for the tests, and the raises are automatic, not a negotiation you have to fight for.
- Full-time or part-time. Both work. If you’re going through a career change or you’re semi-retired and want a real trade to fall back on, we’ll build a schedule that works.
- No degree required. High school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, and the willingness to figure things out. That’s it.
Real Pay Ranges
Because you asked, and because we hate the games most companies play about pay:
- Automotive lift install & service technician: $18–$45/hr depending on experience and certifications. New hires without prior trade experience typically start in the low-to-mid $20s during paid training. Techs with three-plus years and full ALI certifications are in the high $30s to mid $40s.
- Electrical install support: $18–$45/hr depending on skill and licensure. Journeyman-level electricians who’ve wired industrial equipment before come in at the top of the range.
- Full-time relationship sales (Dream 100): $16–$30/hr base plus uncapped commission. Real earners regularly clear six figures.
- Part-time sales: $16–$25/hr plus commission on what you close.
Every range gets negotiated in person once we’ve talked about your background and what you actually bring to the table. If you’re a proven producer, we’re not going to insult you by pretending you’re a rookie. If you’re a rookie, we’re going to be honest about that too and pay you fairly for what you know today.
Benefits (Because Life Costs Money)
- Health insurance and dental insurance
- 10 days paid time off per year
- Uniforms provided
- Tools and service truck for field-based roles
- Paid training on every certification we ask you to earn
Who Thrives Here
The best hires we’ve ever made — the ones who are still with us and running their own territories now — all had a few things in common. None of them had four-year degrees. Most of them came from other trades, from military service, or from years of figuring stuff out on their own vehicles at home.
- You’d rather figure it out than be handed a script. If someone taking apart a broken tool on the kitchen table sounds like a good Saturday, we probably want to hire you.
- You hate being micromanaged. We’re going to tell you the outcome we need, hand you the truck and the tools, and get out of your way. If that scares you, we’re the wrong shop.
- You want the work to matter. Our customers are dealer groups and shops running their own businesses. When you show up, you’re the person keeping their bays running. That means something.
- You want to build something. We’re growing fast. Every technician has a path to running a location, holding equity, or building their own book of business. There’s no ceiling if you can produce.
Don’t Apply If
Because our time is worth more than a wasted first week and so is yours:
- You need to be told exactly what to do every hour of the day.
- You’re looking for a 9-to-5 that ends when you clock out. Field work has good days and hard days.
- You don’t want to travel. Most of our tech roles are on the road inside a service area — this isn’t a shop-only job.
- You’re afraid to ask questions. The techs who fail here are the ones too proud to say “I don’t know how to do that.” The ones who succeed ask a hundred questions in their first month.
How to Start
Two ways in:
- Send your resume to info@autoliftserv.com — put the role you’re interested in in the subject line. A person reads every one. If it’s a fit, we’ll schedule a call within a couple of days.
- Call 800-674-9302 and ask about jobs. Same result, faster — you’re talking to a person immediately.
Interviews are in person at our headquarters in Ames, Iowa (210 Freel Dr, Ames, IA 50010) or at our Lakeland, Florida service base. If you’re a great candidate outside those areas, we’ll make travel work. If we’re not sure yet, we’ll do a phone or video screen first.
Common Questions
Are these paid training jobs really paid from day one?
Yes. Your first paycheck covers your first days of ride-along training the same as any other pay period. We don’t have a “training wage” or an unpaid probationary period.
What jobs pay well without a degree here?
Automotive lift installation and service is the biggest one — $18 to $45 per hour DOE, and top techs make more than most people with four-year degrees. Sales roles (Dream 100 and part-time relationship sales) also pay well without any degree required.
What are the best paying jobs without a degree at Auto Lift Services?
Senior field techs with full ALI certifications and specialty knowledge (heavy-duty truck lifts, alignment systems, hydraulic rebuilds) are the top of the frontline range. Dream 100 relationship salespeople who land a whale account and keep it for years earn uncapped residual commission — the ceiling is your book of business, not our comp plan.
Do I need experience to start?
Not for entry roles. We hire people who’ve never touched an auto lift and pay them to learn. If you have prior trade experience (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, welding, mechanical repair, military mechanic MOS) that shortens the learning curve and gets you to top pay faster, but it’s not a prerequisite.
Is this a real career or just a job?
Real career. We’re a founder-led business with real growth plans, and every technician who wants to build has a path — regional lead, branch manager, profit-sharing, equity for the right operators. What we won’t promise on a public page are specific numbers, because those get negotiated in person with the right people.
Where are you located?
Headquarters in Ames, Iowa. Growing service base in Lakeland, Florida covering Central Florida. Field techs work a service area from those bases — you’ll be home most nights.
