The envelope is the constraint you cannot change later without a saw.
Item Two: Get the Slab Poured to Spec
The second checklist item is the slab. Getting that outlet installed during the build is a two-hour job for the electrician; retro-fitting later means running conduit through finished walls or across the ceiling. Our northeast Iowa customer added the outlet on the wall next to where the lift power unit would sit, on a dedicated breaker, before drywall went up. He also added shop-quality LED lighting and a couple of extra 120-volt outlets on the same wall for tools. Item Four: Pick the Lift Configuration Against Your Actual Work
The fourth item is picking the lift itself, and it comes fourth on purpose, not first. By this point you know the envelope, the slab, and the power. Then cycle it with the heavier vehicle you actually want to work on. Feel how the arms sit, how the safety cams engage, and how the hydraulic system behaves. Do a light job like an oil change first before you tackle a CV axle.
