Delivery week and rigging in a working shop

We changed the hydraulic fluid — most manufacturers call that optional at six months but recommended by twelve, and we prefer to catch any early debris before it scores the cylinder walls. We also re-torqued the anchor bolts. Concrete continues to cure well past 28 days, and the first re-torque catches any anchors that have relaxed slightly. Total service call ran under two hours. If you own a lift and have not had it professionally checked, six months is the right first checkpoint. After that, once a year is enough for most home shops.
One year in — what we would change
Twelve months later the owner told us he would do three things differently. He would have gone to a 12,000-pound capacity instead of 10,000, because his project mix shifted toward heavier trucks and he now leaves capacity on the table when a customer asks for a diesel job. He would have added the drip trays at install rather than as an afterthought, because oil work is messier than he expected. And he would have wired a second 110V outlet into the ceiling above the driver’s-side column, because reaching a work light from the ground while the vehicle is up gets old.
