They bench-cycled the rebuilt cylinder by hand to verify smooth motion, then reinstalled it, refilled the hydraulic reservoir, bled the system, and cycled the lift six times empty to purge air.
What He Would Do Differently Next Time
Two things. First, he would have flushed the hydraulic oil during the rebuild. Six-year-old oil holds particulate that shortens new seal life. Fresh AW32 hydraulic oil is inexpensive and adds years to the next seal set. He topped off with old oil instead of draining and replacing, and he told us later he wished he had spent the extra hour. Second, he would have replaced the small pump-mounted return-line filter at the same time. That filter catches debris from the reservoir before it reaches the cylinders, and it is cheap.
