Myth 1: any 10K lift is fine for European cars

Modern European cars have narrow, well-defined pinch-weld pads and often a plastic under-tray that has to be worked around. If the front arms won’t swing wide enough to clear the front wheel while reaching the sill pickup, you’re going to pad-stack every car — which chews up brake service time. Mid-tier lifts use spring-loaded pins. Premium automotive two post lifts use automatic gear-driven restraints that engage the moment the arm takes weight. If your budget is tight, at least buy spring-loaded — gravity pins are a decade behind the safety curve.
