A fixed lift in that bay killed the trailer work, and a lift-free bay killed the light-duty service they wanted to grow. Oil Pan Gasket Work as the Daily Job
The RV shop’s steady bread-and-butter turned out to be engine oil pan gasket work on the pickup tow rigs their customers dropped off with the trailers. Lift the truck to shoulder height, click into a middle lock position rather than full up, and the tech is not reaching overhead the entire time. Their tech told us the discrete lock positions every two to two and a half inches were the feature he did not realize he needed until he had it. On a two-post you commit to one height. On a scissor you dial it in per job.
The First Hydraulic Seal Weep
Around month nine we got the call every first-year owner eventually makes. The unit had a small weep from one of the primary hydraulic cylinders. Not a gusher, not a safety issue, but enough fluid on the platform that they could see it. What the Rebuild Kits Actually Contain

A cylinder seal kit contains the rod seal, the piston seal, the wiper, and the O-rings for the cylinder cap. It does not include the cylinder tube itself, and it usually does not include the rod. If the rod is scored, you replace the cylinder assembly, not just the seals. Ask your distributor whether they stock the seal kits, the full cylinder assemblies, and the solenoid coils. What Year One Cost, In Ranges

What We Would Do Differently Next Time
Looking back, two things we would change. First, we would have shipped the seal rebuild kit with the lift on install day rather than waiting for the call. It costs almost nothing to have on the shelf and saves a week of anxiety when a weep shows up. Second, we would have installed a floor-flatness plate under the soft spot at the back drain from the beginning rather than shimming.
