When symmetric wins for farm shop use
Symmetric wins when your fleet is majority trucks, when your project car or SUV has a heavy engine and rear-biased weight distribution, or when you want the widest possible tolerance for setting arms slightly off-perfect and still lifting safely. In a farm shop specifically, we recommend symmetric probably eight times out of ten. The reasons are simple: the fleet is truck-heavy, the operator’s usual routine is to lift wheels-off for tire and brake work, and the door-swing issue is a non-factor on trucks.
Symmetric also tends to run slightly less expensive at the same capacity, because the arm assemblies are simpler and share parts.
