Why an Overland Build Needs a Different Lift Spec

Overland builds don’t fit inside standard passenger-car assumptions. A kitted rig can weigh six to seven thousand pounds curb, rides on thirty-five-inch tires, and has factory frame rails buried under skid plates and armor. That means the lift needs enough arm reach to find OEM pick points that aren’t blocked, enough drive-thru clearance to swing wider than standard tires, and enough capacity headroom to keep the lift’s factory duty cycle honest.

He was cross-shopping a Rotary twelve-thousand-pound asymmetric and a Challenger twelve-thousand-pound symmetric. We pushed him toward the asymmetric with three-stage arms, because the swing geometry gives more front-tire clearance and the three-stage front arms find factory pick points on lifted rigs more reliably than two-stage. That’s the small spec choice that makes a car lift automotive setup actually usable for overland work, not just workable in theory. Wrong arms and you fight the vehicle every service.

Brand History and Parts Pipeline
