Pad spacing at the vehicle lift points is what actually determines whether you get a clean load, and both lifts allow independent arm rotation so the tech can position each pad on the factory lift point without touching the others.
For brake service specifically on a garage two post lift, the tech wants full rotor access, meaning arms swung well outside the wheel line. Three-stage telescoping is required for this on modern crossovers and SUVs where the lift point sits inboard of the wheel by 6 to 8 inches. Two-stage arms cannot reach that inboard position and pad positioning cheats will not pass a dealer’s own internal inspection.
