Myth One: You Need a Special EV-Rated Lift
The first thing every EV shop owner asks is whether they need a hydraulic lift automotive specifically labeled as EV-rated. The honest answer is no, not usually. What you need is a lift with enough capacity to handle the actual curb weight of the vehicles you service, plus a healthy margin. A Model Y comes in at around forty-five hundred pounds. A ten-thousand-pound Rotary or Challenger two-post handles almost every mainstream EV on the market today. If you plan to service Hummers, Silverado EVs, or the heavier F-150 Lightning trims regularly, step up to a twelve or fifteen thousand pound rating. The word EV-rated is largely marketing, but the underlying capacity number is real. Do not let anyone sell you a boutique hydraulic lift automotive with an EV badge at a thirty percent markup when a standard commercial lift with the correct capacity does exactly the same job.
Myth Two: EVs Cannot Be Lifted at Standard Pinch-Weld Points

Every EV shop we visit gets a real site survey before we quote, and about one in three has something the owner did not know about. Undersized electrical service is the most common.
