A lot of heavy-duty shops start their hydraulic lift automotive shopping with 18,000-pound two-posts because that is the capacity number the salesperson at the first place they called quoted. For CV axle and half-shaft work on medium-duty rigs, 18K is often exactly what you need, but it is the wrong answer if any of the trucks coming through are up-fitted with plow gear, service bodies, or aerial buckets. A stripped 19,500-pound cabover is a 19,500-pound truck; the same chassis with a bucket up top can pass 22,000 pounds fast.

Configuration choices — clear-floor versus baseplate on heavy-duty
Heavy-duty two-posts come in overhead (clear-floor) and baseplate (floor-plate) versions. Overhead runs the equalizer cable and hydraulic hose across the top of the two columns through a cross-tube, keeping the floor between the columns completely clear. Baseplate runs everything on the floor, which reads cleaner from above but puts a low tripping hazard between the columns that a technician has to step over every time.
For CV axle and half-shaft work specifically, clear-floor is what you want. You are dropping the vehicle drive shafts and half-shafts and rolling them out, and a floor-plate tube is directly in the way of that motion.
