Year-One Purchase and Install Costs

Total delivered and installed lands in the mid-teens combined. Hydraulic cylinders exist in each column but they run on a shorter stroke than 2-post cylinders and typically last longer between rebuilds. What column sets do wear is pole-pad rubber and caster wheels, both cheap and both replaceable in an hour without special tools. That is the number that convinced the border-shop owner to switch. The compounding lower service spend across two decades is where mobile auto lifts pay for themselves compared with maintaining two fixed lifts.

Floor Space and Insurance Considerations

Independent shops rarely price floor space explicitly, but it costs real money. That resale gap matters because it turns the mobile column set into a genuine capital asset the shop can liquidate if the business closes, moves, or right-sizes. The border shop we quoted is planning a possible move to a bigger building in year twelve, and the ability to load the columns onto a trailer and roll them into the new bay by that afternoon was a real factor.
