The power side is bigger. Most Config B lifts want 220V single-phase or 208V three-phase, and the pump is heavier. Cycle time from full-down to full-up runs 45 to 60 seconds under load. Where Config B pays for itself is combining inspection work with tire rotation, alignment prep, and light suspension service on the same lift — and doing it without the arm ballet of a 2-post. Duty cycle: which one survives daily inspection loops

Duty cycle is the spec that separates a hobby lift from a commercial lift. Config A is typically rated for 10 to 15 cycles per hour before the motor thermal-cuts, which is plenty for a shop cycling through five inspections an hour. Config B carries a heavier motor and typically runs 20+ cycles per hour with no thermal issues, meaning a Waterloo shop hammering through 30 vans on a Saturday morning stays in service all day.
