Symmetric versus asymmetric matters too. Symmetric puts the car in the middle of the bay, best for pickups because the doors clear both columns. Asymmetric rotates the columns 30 degrees and puts the car forward, better for tight bays and passenger cars. Challenger uses dual-telescope both sides but a slightly longer base arm. In practice both handle a modern crew-cab pickup without issue. Parts availability is where we spend more time in the technical deep-dive — Rotary has broader U.S. distribution and slightly faster part turnaround, but Challenger’s parts are usually cheaper per unit.
