Auto Lifts For Home Garage: Financing Terms And Payment Schedules

Alignment Machine For Sale Boca Raton, FL

Contact Us

A dealership service manager in West Des Moines called us about auto lifts for home garage use because he wanted to service his own family’s fleet at home after hours without paying dealership shop rate to himself. The equipment made sense; the cash outlay in one lump sum did not. He asked about financing terms, payment schedules, and whether we’d stretch payments across the transmission-service window he had planned in his own personal budget. We ran the whole conversation on the phone in about 20 minutes, and here’s the financing walk-through we shared, plus the technical fit-out we ended up quoting with real dimensions from his 26-foot-deep garage.

Finance A Home Garage Lift →

12 months 0% APR, first payment deferred 90 days. Call 800-674-9302 to run terms in five minutes.

The 12-month, 0% APR, 90-day-defer program

The financing offer we run on most home-garage lifts is a 12-month, 0% APR promotion with no payments for the first 90 days. That means you take delivery of the lift, install it, and put roughly a fiscal quarter of use on it before the first payment comes out. The monthly is the purchase price divided by 12, with no interest layered on top. Our banker at a Des Moines-area lender writes the paper and handles the application. It’s a soft credit pull to pre-qualify, hard pull to close. Most customers know in an afternoon whether they’re approved.

The reason we like this structure for auto lifts for home garage buyers is that it matches how people actually earn and spend. Nobody sets aside five figures in a checking account for one purchase. But a monthly payment that fits under a car-note-sized budget line is realistic. If you can afford to fuel two vehicles, you can afford a home-garage lift on this financing. The 90-day defer gives you room to sell the vehicle you were storing outdoors, install the lift, and start seeing the value before the first invoice hits.

What the underwriting actually looks at

Underwriting for equipment financing is different from a home mortgage or an auto loan, and this catches people off guard. Our lender looks at three things: credit score, income stability, and existing debt-service ratio. There’s no property appraisal, no down-payment requirement, and no personal-collateral pledge beyond the lift itself. If you have a middle-of-the-road FICO and a W-2 or a couple years of Schedule C, you’ll clear underwriting without drama. Self-employed buyers usually need to send two years of tax returns; W-2 buyers usually need a recent pay stub.

Extended terms — 24, 36, or 48 months — are available at market interest rates. Our banker quoted rates in the 6 to 9% range depending on term and credit tier when I last checked, but we don’t publish those on the site because they move. For most auto lifts for home garage purchases, the 12-month 0% program is the right call unless your monthly cashflow is truly tight. If it is, we’ll run the extended-term application and get you a number. Call 800-674-9302 and we’ll walk you through the application without pushing you toward the longer paper.

Payment schedule mechanics

Here’s what the calendar looks like. You place the order today. We ship or install within our normal lead time — usually 1 to 3 weeks depending on stock. The financing paper is signed when the lift ships. The 90-day clock starts on the day the paper funds. Payment 1 hits your bank account 91 days later; payments 2 through 12 hit monthly after that. The lift is yours from day one — the lender holds a lien on the equipment until final payment, but you have full use of it during the term. There’s no pre-payment penalty; if you pay it off in month 6, the paper closes and you’re done.

What financing does NOT cover on our program is installation labor when a customer wants it broken out separately — that’s paid at time of install. It also doesn’t cover concrete work, electrical, or any general-contracting your garage needs to be ready. We can quote all of that separately, but that goes on your own budget line, not the equipment paper. For auto lifts for home garage buyers who need a turnkey number, we’ll bundle the lift and the install into one financed line if you ask us to.

Real dimensions from the West Des Moines quote

The dealership service manager’s garage was 26 feet deep by 22 feet wide, with 10-foot ceilings under the joists and a 4-inch slab poured with the house in 2005. Those are borderline dimensions for a full-rise two-post: the ceiling is right at the minimum, and the depth means we’d have to position the columns carefully to leave 3 feet of clear at the front for the tool cart. We ended up quoting a two-post with a lower overhead-bar profile — 141 inches to the top of the bar, which fit under his 120-inch joists with clearance for the shut-off cable.

Capacity-wise, we spec’d 10,000 lb symmetric. He mostly wrenches on his family’s SUVs and a work pickup, none of which exceed 6,500 lb loaded. The financing rolled the lift, delivery, and install into one 12-month payment. He wired a 30-amp 220V circuit himself the weekend before we installed. Total elapsed time from phone call to first cycle-test with a real vehicle on it was 18 days. That’s a normal timeline for auto lifts for home garage installs inside our regular Iowa install radius.

Transmission service on a home-garage lift

His stated reason for buying was transmission service — he wanted to do drain-and-fills on his own vehicles and the family fleet on a real schedule instead of stretching intervals to fit a dealership appointment. A two-post lift is the right tool for that job. The transmission pan sits at chest height with the truck at full rise, the drain plug comes out cleanly, and the pan drops without contorting under a jack. On a four-post lift, you’d need to raise the vehicle with the rolling bridge jacks under the frame to unload the axles — more steps, same end result.

The two-post also lets him do full valve-body work if a transmission needs internal service. Pan comes off, filter comes off, valve body drops with a single technician. On a floor jack in a home garage, that’s a nightmare. On a 10K two-post, it’s a Saturday-morning job. Auto lifts for home garage buyers who plan to do their own transmission work almost always land on the two-post for exactly this reason. Storage is nice, but the ability to do real service work is the reason to buy the lift at all.

What financing does NOT solve

Financing solves the cashflow problem. It does not solve the space problem, the concrete problem, or the electrical problem. We’ve had customers finance a lift, take delivery, and then realize their concrete is 3 inches instead of 4, or their ceiling is 9 feet instead of 11. The financing paper is already funded; they now own a lift that doesn’t fit. We can usually take it back for a small restocking fee if we haven’t installed yet, but that’s a bad day. Do the checklist BEFORE you sign paper.

The checklist is: measure ceiling height with a real tape, verify concrete thickness with a core sample or the original pour ticket, photograph your electrical panel, and confirm your garage door is wide enough to walk the crates in. If any of those don’t check out, we quote the fix before we quote the lift. That saves everyone the headache. Financing is a great tool for auto lifts for home garage buyers who’ve done the homework; it’s a fast way to buy the wrong lift if you haven’t.

How to actually apply

The fastest way is to call 800-674-9302 and ask for a financing application. We send you a one-page form and a link to the lender’s secure portal. You fill it out, they run the soft pull within a few hours, and we get a pre-qualification back the same day or the next morning. From there, you pick the lift, we lock the pricing, and the paper funds when the lift ships. Total elapsed time from first call to installed lift is usually under three weeks for stocked models.

If you’re in the middle of a garage build-out and don’t need the lift for a few months, we can hold your order and stage the paper timing so the 90-day defer aligns with your build schedule. Just tell us the target install date when you apply. For auto lifts for home garage buyers in the West Des Moines area, we can lay out the lift on your slab with tape and mock-up before you commit to a specific model. That visit is free within our regular Iowa install radius.
