Start with the ceiling because it’s the one dimension you cannot change without pouring a new slab and re-roofing. Most Davenport detached garages built in the last 25 years have 9-foot or 10-foot ceilings measured to the underside of the truss. Anchor bolts are typically 3/4-inch wedge anchors driven six inches into the slab. On a 4-inch slab that means the anchor bottoms out and grabs the concrete’s full thickness. On a thicker 6-inch slab you have more margin but the anchor type stays the same. If your slab tests low we can specify a longer anchor or a bolt-through-slab install with a base plate on the underside, but that requires access from below and it’s rarely practical in a slab-on-grade garage.
