You need clean lower access to remove the pan, room to swing the pan out past the crossmember, torque access to the timing cover bolts, and enough overhead clearance to hang a support bar if the engine has to come up on a stand. On a floor jack with stands, that is a full day of contortion and skinned knuckles. On a certified two-post car lift with good arm reach, it is a two-hour billable service that leaves the tech’s back intact at the end of the shift.
