Rotary has been building lifts since 1925, currently owned by Vehicle Service Group out of Kentucky. Their two-post product line has been essentially the same architecture since the mid-1990s with incremental improvements, which means parts commonality across generations is excellent. A 1998 Rotary SPO9 shares 70 percent of its wear-parts catalog with a 2024 SPO10. That matters when you own the lift for 15 years and need a cable, seal, or ratchet in year 12.

Challenger commercial lifts have been built by Snap-on since 1997, with their PKS heavy-duty line the flagship. Challenger’s home-garage-class product overlaps significantly with Rotary in target market, but their parts commonality across model generations is a step lower. A 2010 Challenger CL10 shares maybe 55 percent of its parts catalog with a 2024 model because Challenger has done more architecture updates. Both brands have solid US parts distribution, but Rotary’s parts pipeline is slightly deeper for older equipment.

Two-post configuration: symmetric vs asymmetric

An asymmetric two-post has columns rotated 30 degrees, longer rear arms, positioned so the vehicle center-of-gravity sits centered on the columns while the doors swing outside the arm reach.
