The shop was not going to pay cash. That is nearly universal for small build businesses. We walked the owner through our lease-alternative financing program — zero percent APR for the first twelve months, plus a ninety-day payment deferral. The ninety-day deferral matched almost exactly the ramp-up window the shop needed to convert its build backlog into paid invoices using the new lift.
Financing was arranged through a First Business Bank contact of ours. The owner filled out the application in a single afternoon, was approved inside two business days, and the funds paid us directly. He did not have to sit on a purchase and wait for a bank approval to arrive by mail. The trade-off is that you need to actually build a payoff plan and stick to it. Shops that treat it as an interest-free loan and pay it off inside the promo window win. Shops that treat it as a way to defer thinking about the payment lose when the market rate kicks in at month thirteen.
One-Year Follow-Up: What the Shop Would Change
One year after install, we followed up with the owner. Two things he would change: he would have added rolling jacks from day one instead of retrofitting them, and he would have run a floor drain closer to the lift for oil-and-fluid catchment during driveline work. Both are addressable now — we sold him a rolling-jack pair at the one-year mark, and the floor drain is on the docket for a summer concrete cut.
