A body shop that already has a two-post can still benefit from a scissor lift for automotive transmission service, and here is the honest reason. Two-post lifts are wonderful for wheels-off work, but a technician dropping a transmission crossmember and pulling a pan often wants clearance in the middle of the vehicle that the two-post arms encourage rather than block.
