The customer behind this install runs a route through eastern Nebraska doing exhaust repairs, driveshaft service, and driveline diagnostics on light and medium trucks, and wanted a fixed shop bay to handle the jobs too involved for a mobile setup. Weight wasn’t the deciding factor since most of his work is on half-ton and three-quarter-ton trucks, but he still landed on a 12000 lb 2 post lift because underbody work means the vehicle spends long stretches suspended, and he wanted margin built into the equipment rather than running it near its rated limit every day.

Small layout details like control placement and cart parking spots don’t show up in a spec sheet, but they’re the difference between a bay that flows well every single day and one that becomes an obstacle course by the end of the first week.

Electrical, Air Line, and Overhead Routing

Exhaust and driveline work also means air tools running constantly — impact guns on rusted hangers, cutoff wheels, air ratchets — so we routed an overhead air drop right at the lift instead of running a hose across the floor.
