An overhead configuration adds a top beam that ties the front columns together, which stiffens the whole unit but also eats into your usable ceiling height. For a body shop doing tire rotation and wheel work all day, that overhead beam can be a real problem if you’re rolling floor jacks, tire changers, or overhead reels through the bay.
