Overlanding and off-road rigs are brutal on lift equipment in ways a stock daily driver isn’t. Long-travel suspension, aftermarket bumpers, winches, roof racks, and extra fuel tanks all add weight that isn’t evenly distributed the way the factory intended. When that truck sits on a 4-post platform for exhaust work or a driveline swap, the cylinder is holding load for hours, not minutes, and it’s holding it at odd points in the stroke as the tech adjusts height for clearance under skid plates and long shafts.

Uneven travel between the two sides of a 4-post platform, jerky or hesitant movement on the way up, or unusual noise from the pump straining to compensate for a leak are all worth a service call before they get worse. We’d rather inspect a cylinder that turns out to be fine than get an emergency call from a shop with a truck stuck in the air.
