The tradeoff is a higher upfront cost and a slab check before install, since baseplate anchoring has stricter concrete thickness and cure requirements than overhead models.

What Tire and Wheel Work Actually Demands From a Lift

Tire rotation and wheel service look simple, but they put a lift through more up-and-down cycles per day than almost any other job in the shop. That means arm lock reliability and lift speed matter more here than in a shop doing mostly long, slow repair jobs.
