Every fleet bay has a story before we ever get there — a low ceiling truss, a floor drain in the wrong place, a door that swings the wrong way for a service truck with a plow frame still attached. A tech pulling a catalytic converter or dropping a driveshaft on a one-ton pickup needs full standing height, unobstructed swing arms, and enough daylight under the frame to work with a torch or an impact gun without crouching. We’ve been in bays where the previous lift’s arms were too short to reach the rear frame rails on an extended dump truck chassis, forcing techs to improvise with jack stands under a raised vehicle — a real hazard we won’t sign off on. A correctly speced ALM lift eliminates that improvisation entirely. We also account for driveline drop-out clearance, meaning enough vertical travel that a driveshaft or transfer case can be pulled straight down without hitting the runway or crossmember. Getting that dimension right the first time saves a fleet from discovering it mid-repair, with the vehicle already in the air and the job half done.

Two-Post Versus Four-Post for Fleet Vehicles

Fleet managers ask us constantly whether a two-post or four-post setup makes more sense for their bay, and the honest answer depends on vehicle mix. If the fleet is mostly pickups and light trucks needing frequent underbody access for exhaust, brakes, and driveline, a two-post arrangement usually wins because it leaves the undercarriage completely open. Anchoring, Floor Condition, and Load Ratings
