That’s enough for the lift footprint plus a walkway on at least one side for rolling a cart, floor jack, or driveline dolly through. We always ask about post spacing in pole buildings specifically because internal support columns can land right where you want to swing a car door or roll a transmission jack, and there’s no fixing that after the fact.
Two-Post vs. Four-Post for Driveline and Exhaust Access
For pure driveline and exhaust work, a two-post lift almost always wins over a four-post in a home garage setting. Four-post lifts leave the runways under the vehicle, which is exactly where you need to work when you’re accessing an exhaust system or dropping a rear differential. A two-post lift with the columns positioned outside the vehicle’s frame rails gives you a completely open floor plan underneath, nothing between you and the pipe you’re cutting or the driveshaft you’re pulling.

We ask for floor specs before we ever recommend a specific model, because a lift that’s perfect on paper is useless if the anchoring pattern doesn’t match your slab.
