Myth Four: EV Weight Is Just A Capacity Number
EV shops fixate on gross capacity and stop there. A 10,000 lb two-post handles almost every passenger EV on the road by total weight, and that is true. But capacity is only one of three constraints. The second is per-arm rating — most two-posts specify a maximum load per arm, and a low, centered battery pack can push more into the rear arms than a comparable internal-combustion vehicle. The third is geometry: many EVs have long wheelbases with tight, specific lift-point pads and low rocker panels, which means arm reach, pad height, and adapter stack matter as much as the sticker capacity.
