The shop in question was a 30-by-40 pole building with a concrete floor and roughly 12-foot sidewalls, which is a common footprint for hobbyist and semi-professional builders across Iowa and southern Minnesota. He wanted to do serious mechanical work — oil pan gasket replacement, suspension work, occasional drivetrain service — and he also wanted to store one vehicle up top and potentially park a second one underneath. That dual-purpose ask, service plus storage, is exactly the scenario where a drive on auto lift earns its keep over a traditional two-post.

Before quoting anything, we walked through his real vehicle weights. Overland-built trucks are heavier than stock, often by a meaningful margin once you add winches, bumpers, roof top tents, and long-range fuel.
