Three phase power shows up mostly in older commercial buildings, some rural co-op services, and heavier-duty shop equipment rated above 12,000 lbs. If you’re converting a pole barn or an outbuilding into a garage, don’t assume your electrician ran three phase just because the building used to house farm equipment.
