Neither is wrong, but the choice does affect drive-through width and how the lift interacts with the rest of your storage layout. If you’re storing multiple vehicles between two columns lines or want the option to drive straight through a bay, symmetric setups tend to be more forgiving. If your work is heads-down detail restoration on one car at a time with a technician needing to swing doors wide open, asymmetric usually wins. Sizing Capacity to What You Actually Store, Not Just What You Restore
