Install day itself went smoothly — anchor bolts set, hydraulic lines run, and the unit tested through a full range of motion before we signed off. But the real test of any mechanics car lift install is the first few weeks of actual use, when a shop’s whole crew adjusts to a new workflow. For this Davenport shop, that meant retraining habits around where tools and creepers sat relative to the new post positions, since the layout had shifted from what they were used to.

They tracked roughly a third more inspections per day during peak season compared to their old bay, and attributed most of that gain to workflow rather than raw lift speed. That’s consistent with what we see across a lot of installs — the lift matters, but the bay around it often matters just as much for high-volume, repetitive work like inspections.

Handling RV-Adjacent and Trailer Work in the Same Bay

Because this shop also handles smaller trailers and RV-adjacent service alongside standard vehicle inspections, we had to make sure the lift’s arm reach and capacity comfortably covered both without needing a second dedicated setup. We specced arms with enough reach to handle a wider range of frame contact points than a typical passenger-car-only shop would need, since trailer axles and RV chassis points don’t always line up where a sedan’s do.

That flexibility turned out to matter within the first few months, when the shop started using the same bay for light trailer inspection work they’d previously sent elsewhere. Having a mechanics car lift capable of handling that range without modification saved them from needing a second piece of equipment just for the occasional trailer job.
