Fluid Contamination and Preventing Repeat Failures

Most premature seal failures we see on a mid rise scissor lift in a transmission shop trace back to contaminated hydraulic fluid, not just age. Transmission fluid, dust, and metal shavings from nearby work can find their way into a lift’s reservoir over years of shop use, especially if the fill cap isn’t sealing well or the reservoir sits open during busy days. Contaminated fluid accelerates seal wear dramatically compared to clean fluid in a sealed system.

We recommend a full fluid flush any time you’re rebuilding cylinders, not just topping off.
