Unlike a general repair bay where a lift might go up and down a dozen times, a dedicated lube bay in a shop doing 40-60 cars can cycle a rotary air cylinder well over 100 times daily. That kind of duty cycle accelerates seal wear, especially on the piston seal and the rod wiper that keeps grit and moisture out of the bore. Slower-than-normal rise time is another tell. If the cylinder used to bring a vehicle up in a set number of seconds and now takes noticeably longer, internal bypass is robbing efficiency even before you see external leaks. Before you order, pull the cylinder and check the port size, the end mounting ID and OD, and any stamped part numbers on the cylinder barrel or end caps.
