For a weekend mechanic, this distinction shows up the moment you try to get out of the car once it’s lifted a foot off the ground. With a symmetric setup in a tight two-car garage, we’ve watched customers bang their knuckles on the column reaching for a door handle. Asymmetric arms fix that by rotating the columns back and giving you a cleaner angle to open the door and step down.
