Configuration A: Standard-Height 4-Post With Ramps Up Top

This gets a technician full standing clearance underneath for differential fluid service, brake work, or exhaust jobs, and it stores a vehicle up top over a second bay if you’re tight on square footage. The catch is the ceiling math. Add the platform height, the vehicle height, and any roof-mounted equipment like a ladder rack or cargo van bulkhead, and you can eat through an 11 to 12 foot ceiling fast, especially with taller cargo vans.

Every jump in capacity tier tends to add height and footprint, and in a low-ceiling building that extra height can push you past what your walls will physically allow. Before locking in a 4 post car lift low ceiling configuration, we always ask fleets to list their heaviest realistic vehicle rather than a hypothetical future purchase, because that number should drive the tonnage decision, not the ceiling decision.
