Annual state inspections on trucks and trailers require getting underneath the vehicle for a real look at the frame, suspension, brake lines, and undercarriage, not just a quick glance from a creeper. The shop’s original plan had been a basic drive-on ramp setup, but once they mapped out how many trucks they’d be running through inspection season, that plan fell apart fast. A year of daily use surfaces things a sales conversation never covers. The shop learned to keep a simple daily walk-around checklist: checking cable tension, listening for any change in hydraulic sound, and keeping the platform surface clear of gravel and debris tracked in from their yard. None of it is complicated, but skipping it is how small issues turn into downtime during a busy inspection week.

They also learned the value of having a service relationship rather than treating the lift as a one-time purchase. When a safety lock needed adjustment a few months in, having someone who already knew their exact truck lift for shop setup meant a same-week fix instead of researching a stranger’s install from scratch.
