Every two post lift needs a way to stop the swing arm from rotating out from under a vehicle once it is loaded and lifted. That is the entire job of an arm restraint. But if you call a parts counter and ask for “an arm restraint” without knowing which style your lift uses, you can end up with a part that does not fit, does not engage, or leaves the arm loose enough to shift under load.
