Why Two Post Lift Slab Prep Comes Before Everything Else

Every two post lift transfers the full weight of the vehicle, plus the leverage forces created by the arms, straight down through four anchor points into the concrete. Unlike a four post lift that sits on ramps and spreads weight across a larger footprint, a two post lift concentrates that load into a much smaller area. That means the slab has to be thick enough, cured long enough, and free of cracks or old patch work near where the columns will sit. Skipping proper two post lift slab prep is how we end up getting calls about a lift that’s rocking, an anchor that pulled loose, or a column that’s leaning slightly after a year of use.

We’ve walked into shops built in the 1970s and 80s where the floor looks fine to the naked eye but was never designed for a modern column lift. Manufacturers typically want at least 28 days of cure time before installation, and that number isn’t arbitrary — it’s when concrete hits close to its rated PSI. We’ve had customers pour a fresh pad and want the lift in the next week because they’re excited to get moving, and we understand the impatience, but rushing this step during two post lift slab prep almost guarantees anchor pull-out down the road.
