Check every fitting within two feet of the wet area with a wrench — snug, not overtightened, since stripped threads create a worse leak than the original.

Don’t Overlook the Power Unit and Reservoir
Low fluid, aerated oil, or a failing check valve in the power unit can mimic cylinder symptoms almost perfectly. Before condemning a cylinder, check the reservoir fluid level and condition. Milky or foamy fluid means water contamination or air in the system, which produces spongy operation that looks like a leaking cylinder even when the cylinder itself is fine. Know When to Repair Versus Replace
