Every 2 post car lift has an anchor pattern, a column footprint, and a required slab thickness before it will pass a load test, and none of that is negotiable after the concrete cures. Most 10,000 lb asymmetric two-post lifts want at minimum 4 inches of properly cured, unreinforced structural concrete under each column pad, and if your service bay slab was poured to a lighter spec for foot traffic and parts carts, that column is not going anywhere until the floor gets cored, patched, or built up. Power Drop Location and Air Line Routing
A two-post lift needs a dedicated power drop for the hydraulic unit, and in a lot of dealership builds we’ve seen, the electrical rough-in gets finalized before the exact lift position is confirmed, which leaves the power unit stranded ten feet from the nearest outlet. Plan the conduit drop directly at the column location, not somewhere convenient on the wall, and coordinate voltage and breaker size with the lift’s actual motor spec rather than a generic guess.
Air line routing for impact guns and tire equipment matters just as much for wheel and tire bays. If techs are going to be doing rapid tire rotation and wheel work all day on that 2 post car lift, you want a quick-connect air drop within reach of both sides of the vehicle without a hose crossing the drive-through path. Sequencing the Install Around an Open Service Department
