Asymmetric arms are offset so the vehicle sits slightly forward and to the side, which opens up door swing and gives techs better access to work under the front end without the front post blocking the wheel well. That extra clearance is exactly what makes CV axle work faster, because the tech isn’t reaching around a post to get to the hub.

Symmetric lifts still have their place, particularly in general service bays that handle a wider mix of jobs including tire work and undercarriage inspection where balanced weight distribution matters more than door clearance. But if your bay’s primary job type is drivetrain and axle work, asymmetric arm geometry on a 2 post car lift is going to save your techs time every single day, and over a year that adds up to real labor savings for a dealership running multiple bays.
