Myth: Any Loading Dock Handles a 2 Post Car Lift
We hear this constantly from shop owners near the lakes region who assume a standard dock or a couple of guys with a pallet jack can handle a two-post arrival. It can’t. A crated 2 post car lift with towers, arms, and a hydraulic power unit routinely weighs several thousand pounds spread across an oddly shaped crate. Pallet jacks aren’t rated for that kind of concentrated weight on uneven crating, and we’ve seen jacks buckle trying to move a crate that should have gone off with a forklift from the start.
This is exactly why one of the first questions our team asks every European specialty shop is simple: do you have a forklift on site? If the answer is no, that’s not a dealbreaker, but it changes the whole freight plan. Myth: Oil Change Bays Don’t Need Full-Size Capacity

We’ve had customers tell us their ceiling is 11 feet only to find the usable clearance is closer to 11 feet 6 inches once you account for the lift’s fully raised height and the safety margin a technician needs to comfortably stand underneath.
For a shop focused on oil changes and fluid service, standing clearance under a raised vehicle matters just as much as raise height itself. Nobody wants to duck under a lift arm all day. Myth: Any Concrete Slab Is Ready for a 2 Post Car Lift
This myth causes more installation delays than almost anything else. Shop owners assume that because a floor holds up a car, it will hold up a 2 post car lift anchored into it. Two-post lifts concentrate enormous point loads into just four or six anchor points, and thin or cracked concrete simply can’t handle that stress the way a continuous slab under a parked vehicle can.
We generally recommend a minimum of four to four and a half inches of solid, unreinforced-crack-free concrete rated around 3,000 to 4,000 PSI, and we always ask shops to confirm slab thickness before we schedule an install crew. Myth: Freight Damage Is Rare and Not Worth Planning For

Get any of that wrong and you’ve got a lift that’s out of level, an arm that doesn’t lock evenly, or an anchor that pulls loose under load.
