But if there’s any chance you’ll need to pull something out mid-season — a truck that needs a battery, a trailer that needs a tire fixed before it goes back on the road — the split configuration earns its footprint fast. We ask every fleet customer the same question before recommending a layout: how many times last winter did you wish you could get to something without unloading three other vehicles first? The answer usually settles the debate faster than any spec sheet we could hand over.

Ceiling Height and Structural Considerations for a 15000 Pound Car Lift

A 15000 pound car lift in a four-post configuration needs meaningfully more overhead clearance than a two-post unit of the same rating, and that changes which layout even fits in a given building. That simplicity is part of why smaller operations gravitate toward it — one lift, one power hookup, one thing to maintain.

The two-lift split configuration usually means two separate circuits, and if you’re running a two-post service lift alongside a four-post 15000 pound car lift, you’ll want to check the amperage draw on both before assuming your existing panel handles it. We’ve had fleet customers upgrade their electrical service specifically to support a second lift bay, and it’s a cost worth budgeting for up front rather than discovering it mid-install when the breaker trips every time both units cycle at once.

Maintenance Access Differences Between the Two Configurations

Drive-on storage decks are mechanically simpler — fewer moving parts means less to maintain, and most of what needs attention is cable tension and lock engagement, checked a few times a year.
