A tech is prying on a lower control arm, hammering a seized ball joint, hanging a breaker bar off a strut nut, and putting horizontal force into arms that were designed for vertical load. Over years, that side loading is what wears arm pins, elongates pad holes, and puts stress cracks into carriage weldments that a general service shop would never see.

The routing runs through a low channel at floor level, the drive-over height is a couple inches, and you accept that a floor jack has to clear that channel. We ask for a minimum of four inches of 3,000 PSI concrete, and for suspension work we would rather see six. If one side clicks and the other does not, stop and call.
Then the per-vehicle routine. Set the arms on manufacturer lift points — not the rocker, not the floor pan, not a convenient bracket. Raise to about a foot, stop, and shove the vehicle side to side by hand. If it rocks on the pads, come down and reset. That single check catches most of the near-misses we hear about. Once you are at working height, always lower onto the mechanical locks. Never leave a vehicle sitting on hydraulic pressure while a tech pulls a spring.
