You need the wheel off, the hub free to spin, and enough clearance to swing a press or a slide hammer without banging your knuckles on a fender. A 2 post car lift gets the vehicle up to chest height with both wheels hanging free, which is exactly what bearing work wants. He’d been renting bay time from a friend’s shop when he could get it, but that meant scheduling around someone else’s rack.

Rebar, mesh, and why we don’t guess
Rebar and wire mesh change how a slab handles anchor load, but not always for the better. A properly engineered slab with rebar set at the right depth is great. A thin slab with mesh near the surface just to pass an old inspection can actually make anchoring worse, because the anchor bites into concrete that’s shallower than it looks. We don’t have x-ray vision, so on jobs like this we either core-drill a test spot or go by documented pour specs if the owner has them.

Choosing capacity and layout once the concrete was settled
With the pad specified, we moved to layout. In this space we had good height to work with, so ceiling wasn’t the limiting factor the way it sometimes is in older pole buildings.
We also talked through symmetric versus asymmetric column placement.
