That center-of-gravity balance is exactly what you want for weight distribution on trucks and heavier commercial vehicles, and it’s why a lot of truck shops default to symmetric configurations without thinking twice. But for alignment work specifically, asymmetric arms have an edge: the front arms are shorter and the rear arms are longer, which rotates the vehicle slightly off-center and opens up door clearance so a tech can get in and out without climbing over the column.
