What a Real Install Costs From Lift to Finished Bay

Cost breakdowns vary shop to shop, but the pattern is consistent: the lift itself is one line item, and the install is a separate line item that depends heavily on your slab. We’ve quoted jobs where a customer already owned a used 2-post Rotary lift and had a forklift and rated concrete on site — those installs run leaner because we’re not renting equipment or coring unknown slab conditions. We’ve also quoted jobs needing full anchor testing, electrical runs, and equipment moves of 100 feet or more across a shop floor, which naturally costs more.

As a rough framework: budget for the lift, then a separate install line covering anchoring, alignment, and safety testing, and a third potential line if your slab needs evaluation or your electrical service isn’t already sized for the power unit. We tell every central Iowa shop owner to get their concrete thickness and age nailed down before requesting quotes — a 4-inch slab versus a proper 5-6 inch pad with rebar changes the entire installation approach and can shift your total cost significantly.

Concrete and Anchoring: The Part Shops Skip at Their Own Risk

We’ve walked into jobs where the customer assumed any concrete would hold a lift, only to find 4-inch slab with no rebar under where the columns needed to sit. That’s a real cost that belongs in your planning from day one, not a surprise change order.
