Depth-wise you need the arm swing envelope, which means the vehicle plus about 30 inches on each end, so a 25-foot-deep bay handles almost everything. Pad height at collapsed is where the numbers matter for low-slung cars. A lift with drop-end arms can get the pad down to around 3.75 inches at the pickup point, which is essential if you service Corvettes, Mustangs, or lowered German cars. Standard telescoping arms sit at 5 to 5.5 inches at collapsed, which is fine for most vehicles but tight on aftermarket-lowered ones. For a dealership handling a mixed portfolio, drop-end arms on the front and standard on the rear is a common configuration and one we spec often.

Duty cycle is the spec sheet number that predicts how long your 2 post car lift will last. Consumer-tier lifts are rated for maybe 5 to 10 cycles per day; light-commercial lifts for 20 to 30 cycles per day; heavy-commercial lifts for 40 or more cycles per day, indefinite.
