Cost-wise, baseplate versions are often slightly less expensive on hardware, and installation tends to be faster since the crew isn’t working overhead on ladders or lifts to position crossmembers. That said, the baseplate itself sits on the shop floor, which means a small trip hazard and a slight reduction in ground-level clearance for low-profile equipment or long floor jacks. For pure oil-change-and-inspection quick lube work, that tradeoff rarely matters. For shops doing more exhaust and driveline work, it’s worth walking through with your installer before you order.

Electrical and Slab Prep Costs You Shouldn’t Skip

Every AC1234-4 install we’ve priced in central Iowa has needed some electrical work, even in bays that supposedly already had a 220V line run.
